SAN VICENTE

Hey there, fellow traveler! You know that feeling? The one where you’re sick of fighting crowds just to see something everyone else has already photographed? We do, too. That’s why we want to let you in on a little secret: Skip the rush and come hang out in San Vicente, Ilocos Sur. We’re Vigan’s quiet, gentle neighbor. When you step off the bus here, you don't just see history—you feel it slow down. It’s the perfect place to ditch the guidebook, grab a cold drink, and just watch life unfold with a real Ilocano rhythm. If you’re a traveler who wants an authentic story, not just a stamp in your passport, this is your place. The Soul in the Wood: Our Furniture Story We’re called the "Furniture Capital of the North," but that title sounds too stiff. What it really means is that our grandmothers and grandfathers taught us how to work with wood. When you walk into one of our workshops, you don't just see tools; you see the sawdust of three generations on the floor.Every sin...

2nd Quarter Journey

This past quarter has been a period of significant growth and numerous discoveries. I've learned a lot of new things and received a lot of new knowledge, particularly in the realm of complex algorithms and refined data analysis techniques. I've also discovered new lessons and gained knowledge about the importance of iterative development and how small, consistent improvements can lead to substantial breakthroughs. A key learning was realizing that adaptability and proactive communication are crucial for project management, not only enhancing my technical skills but also sharpening my strategic thinking, allowing me to approach problems with a more comprehensive and innovative mindset. Despite these advancements, the quarter was not without its hurdles. I received a lot of challenges, with many activities being one of the primary obstacles. These activities needed to be passed before the exam, which often led to tight deadlines and the need to quickly master unfamiliar concept...

My teacher, My hero

The Crucial Resonance of “My Teacher, My Hero” The theme for the 2025 National Teachers’ Month (NTM), “My Teacher, My Hero,” is more than just a catchy tagline; it is a vital call to action that shifts the public perception of educators from mere professionals to essential nation-builders. In a time when teaching often involves navigating massive challenges—from digital transformation and resource scarcity to emotional labor—the hero narrative validates the extraordinary effort and sacrifice involved in the profession. It frames teachers not just as instructors who impart knowledge, but as central figures who instill character, resilience, and hope. By defining teachers as heroes, the celebration acknowledges their willingness to fight the quiet, daily battles for every student’s future, often working behind the scenes without the recognition they truly deserve. This theme is especially critical as it encourages society to see the nobility and vocational calling of teaching, rath...

Science Month

It is a call to action for every Filipino to embrace the spirit of discovery and to recognize that the most profound advancements often lie in the realms we have yet to explore. From the deep oceans to the vast expanse of space, from the complexities of the human genome to the fundamental laws of the universe, the "unknown" represents not a void to be feared, but a frontier ripe with potential for groundbreaking discoveries and transformative innovation. The Climate Clock Is Ticking

Image
The Philippines, an archipelago nation, stands at the forefront of climate change vulnerability. Its geographical features, coupled with a dense population and reliance on natural resources, amplify the adverse effects of a rapidly changing environment. The predominant reasons for these sudden or progressive environmental shifts, which profoundly impact the lives and living conditions of many Filipinos, are multifaceted, stemming from both global phenomena and localized anthropogenic activities. One of the most significant drivers is the intensification of extreme weather events, directly linked to global warming. Rising sea surface temperatures fuel stronger typhoons, leading to more frequent and devastating landfalls. These typhoons bring torrential rains, causing widespread flooding and landslides, particularly in mountainous and low-lying coastal areas. Such events not only destroy homes and infrastructure but also decimate agricultural livelihoods, pushing vulnerable communit...

Reflection

I have gained a lot of knowledge in this quarter, I learned about the history of the internet and the people who contributed to this. I have discovered a lot of things during this quarter and I have learned a lot from the nutrition month also. The challenges that I have faced are that there are a lot of activities and a lot of work to do, so i need to focus more and do them before the deadline. This will give me a lot of lessons and learn from them. Doing activities before the deadline will for sure help me in my studies. By learning from my mistakes and focusing on my studies,   I used them as motivation to do better. I refocused my energy on my studies, developed better habits, and stayed committed to improving myself every day. I will study hard and focus on my goals, I will do my assignments and do my best at school, putting in consistent effort every day. I will manage my time wisely, avoid distractions, and seek help whenever I need it. I believe in m...
